Hard Truth about Hard Drives

There is no use having a small hard drive. There is fundamentally no use. OK, let me explain why I am so bitter. The reasons are twofold. One, I can't install Windows Vista. Two, I can't install Windows SDK. (Both Dec CTP). Why, you ask? Because of my hard drive configuration. Windows Vista gets stuck after it loads disk.sys. Windows SDK installs by force on the system partition, and, who in the whole wide world has enough space there? Anyway, I am in Kharagpur, and if you happened to read my ramblings about the Rabbit Project I was doing (which is very unlikely), it all turned out to be some loose connection or some hardware problem with the board. Now I am both happy and sad. Happy because I have been doing the right thing all along, and I have made my code very robust (yes, even fault tolerant!) and proliferated it with comments. That is supercool, is it not? I am sad because of the so much time I wasted. I could have done a LOT more by this time, seriously, a lot, lot more.

snake running

I released Snake v1.0.4 at 2:00 yesterday at 2:00 in the morning. Wow that sounds great! Released Snake v1.0.4 – nice feeling. Anyway, you can get it here , if you want to. Lots of bottlenecks in my Rabbit project. Bottlenecks? I should call them big time problems. LCD is not working, the data bus is behaving weirdly, I don’t want to talk about it. It’s getting cooler around here, and I am not referring to the attractiveness of the village of a campus we live in. I have to graduate to full-sleeved sweaters soon! Oh ya, I nearly forgot, some of my grades are out. I did not get enough in VLSI. Others are fine. Could be better, but they are fine. Tell you what – I have not figured out what makes a good semester and what makes it bad in kgp yet. You think lots of studying would make it good but there are exceptions. And my best sem till date, the second, I don’t think I studied that hard. It is some mysterious force that decides. What’s even worse, ppl with higher grades keep getting bette

It's Winter, chilling and warm.

It’s winter! Another semester has ended, and I am more than half a graduate now. This sem was great. In fact, I loved the Soft Computing Tools course, more than any other course in IIT yet (got an ‘A’ in that, by the way). I loved the CAOS lab (but I don’t have much expectations from that – unfair checking). Nice digicom lab. So what is up with me? I have Visual Studio 2005 installed and configured. I have WinFX Nov CTP installed and configured. Both are really great products. But, I have one big fear. I can no longer install Vista builds on my machine – the bootloader no longer loads!! I am really afraid whether I will be able to install the release version of Vista on my computer or not. I made a Snake game – I have wanted to do so for a long time now, but never actually sat down to do it. After I made it I realized that any working software program of any consequence at all needs a lot of labour. Eliminating the nitty-gritties is very difficult. I actually have a few RFE ’s lined up
